EN 1.4541
(commonly known as AISI 321
or UNS S32100
) is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel. It offers excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 450°C to 850°C (842°F to 1562°F)
.
Key Characteristics
- Titanium Stabilization:
The addition of titanium prevents harmful carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature services.
- High Heat Resistance:
Demonstrates superior creep resistance and stress-rupture properties compared to Grade 304.
- Excellent Weldability:
Can be easily welded using most standard fusion welding techniques without post-weld annealing.
- Superb Mechanical Properties:
Maintains high toughness and strength even in cryogenic temperatures.
